If you’re not one of the crazy girls who has been planning her wedding day – including the dream dress – ever since you’re 5 years old; chances are even if you found a perfectly fine wedding dress – you secretly wish to get married again (to the same guy, of course) because there are several other “the ones”. For me; the options were ethereal chiffon, slinky satin, Jenny Peckham like lace, Elie Saab like embellishment, Giambattista Valli like feathers and wearing a two piece gown, preferaby the upper piece being a cropped one.
When I first saw the wedding photos of Emre Güven (a Turkish fashion photographer) and Liana Kesenci (a Turkish designer) on vogue.com.tr; I was green with envy. Not only did they have my dream rustic, alfresco wedding; the bride wore the simplest, most perfect crop top – bias cut skirt combo. Without a surprise, the idea was also adopted by some of the bridal designers as well, for their fall 2014 collections. Then I realized that Emilio Pucci, Chanel, Oscar dela Renta and such have already embraced the midriff in whites, as well as celebs like Olivia Wilde and Rose Byrne (need I remind you of the two piece salmon pink Calvin Klein she wore to the Emmy awards 2013).
It requires solid abs and lots of self-confidence but it looks so cool, so elegant and perfectly different. Definately my favourite bridal trend of all.
