I don’t know what I’m most upset about: that I already got married and missed my chance to wear that slinky princess gown with gorgeous interwoven belt detail at the back, or that I moved to Montreal and gave up being the PR of Zeynep Tosun and missed my chance to see the collections beforehand and write their press releases.
All my other favourite up-and-coming designers somehow lost their edge after several seasons and to be honest, I was afraid the same thing will happen to Zeynep at some point. But she just keeps going strong, adding new aspects, fabrics and stories to her style line. Her spring/summer 2014 collection titled “Hidden”, is a homage to her mastery in hiding the sexiness in exquisite details behind masculine shapes. Yet, it feels like this is her most fluid and girly collection: basketball chick meets flapper girl. The unexpected and personalised usage of season trends such as shot satin, peplum frills and woven sandals are just a few of the reaons I look forward to seeing her collection every year.
