Get Your Pyth(On)!

We are having one of those moments in fashion where an extremely luxurious material such as python skin – which, for the last decade, used to be associated with rich and “money rules my style” kind of ladies only – are coming down to earth and making an edgy comeback in such different forms and unexpected colors, that it suddenly becomes the hit of the season. So much that, it becomes the common ground of spring/summer 2013 collections of sex bomb Gucci, urban master Proenza Schouler, print genius Preen and even the ultimately elegant Erdem. Though it would be unfair to call this a new trend; remember the Dries Van Noten boots (later on referred to as Zara boots, of course) that stole our hearts and made us wonder our “pulling off” limits? This season things got spiced and patched up a bit; which can only mean it became more fun!

On this wise, I would like to introduce you to a new Turkish brand I discovered (I take my national fashion very seriously). It’s Cashhimi; a luxurious accessory brand of Cenan Abas Sel, which from the looks of it is already a celebrity favorite. From sketch to finish, design to manufacture; each Cashhimi bag is handcrafted and produced under the same roof in Istanbul, which explains the impeccable quality. Normally python or crocodile leather clutches aren’t “my thing” but Cashhimi’s endless style and unique color alternatives make me drool over the website. Apart from Turkey, they have stockists in USA, Dubai, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Hong Kong and Japan (talk about an Asian invasion!). If you’re willing to work the python trend with a relatively reasonable budget and ageless style, I suggest you to pop by the website.

Anyhow, let’s move forward to take a peek at season’s most daring and lusted after python pieces and street style inspirations on how to rock them.

  1. Are all these companies using CITES approved python? Would be interesting to know because if they are not, shipping worldwide is illegal, as well as owning such articles. We must keep a balance between nature and fashion because remember it is not all about us. ❤

  2. Love the way you have your blog layed out. Nice pictures. More ideas for me on how to put things together.
