Longer the Better

22413Color0249Web fass-mfw-fall-2013-street-style-day01-29-h at Emporio Armani I am so greatful to have finally found an explanation for my recent obssesion about full lenght coats: 1) They look awesome (obviously) 2) They make you look “dressed up” even if you are just wearing a simple black dress or a pair of jeans and a shirt underneath 3) They elongate your body 4) They hide your flaws (especially if your flaws are your legs) 5) They work with almost everything in your wardrobe 6) They give you the cool Scandinavian look (a tad).

I say go to your local vintage store or hit etsy (or some other awesome online vintage stores like Time’s Up Vintage or Spanish Moss) to find the perfect full lenght coat because it is more than likely that you will stumble upon them, considering they were more common around late 80’s – early 90’s. If you plan on spending more money, I suggest Max Mara, Calvin Klein, Trussardi or brands like Carin Wester and Damir Doma.

    • Well I’m actually pretty short too (1.62m) but unless you have a really short neck, you can find a nice fitting full lenght coat (not an oversize one, and maybe not too long – hem finishing just around the calves) and once you pair them with high heels and especially with long flaired or wide leg trousers, you will look at least 5cm longer! 🙂 I used to think maxi coats weren’t suitable for me either but lately I’ve found some great vintage ones and totally changed my mind!

    • I’m also incredibly short (1.49m) but i agree with Eliffil Yos. Theres always a way to work around it or customise the look to suit you.
